Twice a year Nicole Urbanski takes her lovely niche Boutique to the charming rookery Hotel in Farringdon http://www.rookeryhotel.com/ and opens a 'pop up' shop in the drawing room. Within the grandiose charm of this lovely room with its relaxing sofas and sweet ensuite powder room posing as a private dressing room, our lovely ladies browse the season's collections, the new NU designs and our beautiful European scarves and accessories, at their leisure. This year we will be launching our new Pink Label collection to our London clients as well as bringing with us some old favourites as part of our Urbanski Vintage collection at reduced prices.
We would like to invite you along to join us in the Drawing Room for the launch of our new S/S 2014 Collection and enjoy a 10% discount on all purchases made during the day.
As it's half term, we decided to lay down the gauntlet and challenge all of you budding fashion stylists out there to a design project. If you are aged 12-17 we would love you to design a limited edition top using details such as shape, style, colour and any trimmings that take your fancy. You can incorporate as much creativity as you wish, but ultimately it should be wearable
The judging will take place after the closing date of Saturday June 7th so all entries should be in by then. The winner will be chosen after this date by our expert panel and will be notified by email or phone.
The winning design will then made up in our production department and displayed in our window for one week, it will additionally be offered for sale as a limited edition piece in our boutique.

This week we are busily promoting our bespoke business as we celebrate the launch of our occasion wear collection the Pink Label. Our lovely production ladies, Rae and Christine, have been busy stitching into the small hours putting together a collection that we are extremely proud of. Nicole's designs have come alive in breath taking soft silks in the most beautiful of sorbet colours. Luxury personified and you can rest assured that if you are the mother of the bride you will not see anybody else in anything similar!
Nicole is perfectly placed to design these luxe collections, after all she did start off life working with seminal designer Jean Paul Gaultier and was instrumental in producing the memorable avant-garde, feather collar worn by Helen Mirren in 'The Cook, The Thief, His Wife & Her Lover' and seen below.
In homage to her days working with JPG we recently both took time out to sneak off to London for the launch of the JPG exhibition, The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk at the barbican and were treated to a very inspiring talk from Justine Picardie and the curator of the exhibition, Thierry-Maxime Loriot.
If you get a chance to go along take it as the exhibits are spectacularly theatrically-staged and very creatively executed. The cutting-edge couture and ready to wear collections are displayed on mannequins, brought to life by talking faces projected onto head casts, amazing if slightly spooky.

......Well not strictly nautical in the 'navy-and-white-stripe' sense, but very, very nice! We have just added another temptation to our stylish pre-summer collection in the shape of some stunning jersey tops. I say 'added', the production team will not be happy with that throw-away term as they have spent the last couple of days slaving over hot sewing machines piecing together the new designs and a brilliant job they have made of them too.
These very easy to wear, comfortable tops come in a variety of styles from a simple short sleeved T to a floaty circle wrap. They can be worn during the day with jeans and ballerina pumps then up-styled for those spring evening; just throw on some heels and a statement necklace and you're ready to meet the cocktail hour head on!
The jersey fabric is very forgiving so will suit all shapes and sizes. The pieces team up really well with our NYDJ jeans and trousers. As these tops are designed and made on the premises they can be altered to suit, so if you have a long body or short arms or indeed a combination of both, you will always find a perfect fit! The jersey fabric comes in three fruity colours, fresh mango, juicy fig and soft banana and can be made up into any of the three styles - decisions, decisions. They are so comfortable you will want one of each in every colour. A great seasonal buy and wardrobe staple, so now the sun is shining make haste and get your summer collection underway!

Today we took delivery of some beautiful scarves from Danish designers Bella Ballou. These scarves are more than just accessories, they are unique works of art. Produced in stunning silks and soft luxury cottons with delicious names such as Fairytale and Blossom, they are wardrobe 'must haves'.
The design process began with the designers' love of silk and the beautiful process of taking the raw materials from the silk cocoon to the end product of the finest silk threads. Since then their collections have grown and they now produce scarves in other fine natural fabrics. They combine ancient traditions and classic craftsmanship with beautiful modern designs and graphic motifs. The scarves are printed one by one and the edges are hand stitched.
The staff have been snapping them up, I bought two and am currently wandering around Hove looking and feeling like Grace Kelly! My colleague wore hers with a set of pearls and a little black dress and looked very much the Italian socialite and our young production honey wore one with a leather bikers jacket and jeans, so there you go, versatile and stylish, what's not to love. They are personal and exclusive for women of all ages. Each design is hand printed in a very limited number so be quick or you could miss your favourite.

Welcome to our new blog page and what we hope will be the first of many posts from our charming boutique! Over the coming weeks you will be introduced to our lovely staff and treated to the many stories and anecdotes that are all part of the day to day fun of working in such a unique store.
The boutique is essentially a Parisian style atelier situated in genteel Hove on the outskirts of the bustling city of Brighton. We have an in-house production department for bespoke garments as well as a beautiful shop that sells Nicole Urbanski exclusive designs together with unique collections from International and European designers.
You will be treated to fashion stories, latest classic fashion trends, articles that will tantalise your inner fashionista and of course kept up to date with all boutique news including events, promotions and special discounts.
This week, as sponsors of the Hove Arts Festival, we are proud to host a temporary window exhibition of the stunning contemporary palette knife works on canvass of local artist Val Fawbert. Famous for her impressions that take you out and about in the City, Val is an artist of International repute and we are extremely privileged to showcase her artworks.
